Item creation: single item, serialized item, item managed by batch number, stock entry.
A company can register its various items as simple items, can have serialized items, and can also create items managed by n+ batches.
Context
Here is the case of a supermarket whose sales manager must add three items to the catalog:
- Paper bag, simple item not managed by batch/series, interchangeable
- Bluetooth headset, managed by serial number
- Latex glove, managed by batch number
For each item, he makes stock entries to initialize the stock at 3 pieces.
Simple item creation
To begin entering a company's products, they can create them as simple items in their management system.
Implementation:
Files > Item > Items, [[New]] item, in [Logistics], leave |Batch number | and |serial number| unchecked.
Serialized item creation
To ensure optimal traceability, companies sometimes choose to assign a unique serial number to each item and configure them for serial number management.
Implementation:
Files > Item > Items, [[New]] item, in [Logistics], you will need to check |serial number |.
Creation of item managed by batch number
In addition, items can be grouped into batches, making it easier to monitor manufacturing, production, stock management, and any recalls.
Implementation:
Files > Item > Items, [[New]] item, in [Logistics], you will need to check |batch number|.
Manual stock entry movement and history
Even though they have finished integrating the items into their system, they need to complete the stock status for proper tracking of product inflows and outflows.
Implementation:
To do this, go to Stock > Movements > Create manual movement.
Note:
You must specify who performed the movement, the type of movement for a stock entry is a manual entry, select the establishment and the arrival warehouse.
Then, we will add the movement lines and specify each item, quantity (Qty), entry value, use-by date (UBD), best-before date (BBD), batch/serial number, and location.
For items managed by serial number, one line will be required for each item in order to specify their serial number.
For items managed by batch number, if they belong to the same batch, we can group them on a single line.
After entering the manual movement, we can see that the stock levels have increased in each stock record, Stock > Stock status (as movements involve verification and a specific entry order for consistent valuation, updating stock levels may take a few seconds).
Movement histories can be found in Stock > Movements > Movement history.
