# Main window

The main window is used to launch actions within the software. It remains visible regardless of the tasks you perform in SIMAX. It contains the menus, the icon toolbar, and the SIMAX messaging system.

## Menu and icon bar

You can click on the different menus, where you will find various menu options.

<figure><img src="/files/A51V2wg9YuLp2qUQrsRV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The icon bar displays icons for menu options and allows you to perform the same actions in SIMAX. To find out what action an icon triggers, hover over it and read the tooltip.

***Example***: here we can see that the “Quotation”, “Order”, and “Items” options are commands that have shortcut icons.

They are also found in the icon bar.

## SIMAX Customization

## Menu Activation and Deactivation

**Menu activation:**

You can choose whether or not to display the menus. Right-click next to the menu bar.

**Main menu deactivation:**

If you uncheck “Main Menu,” the menus will no longer be displayed (main actions).

<figure><img src="/files/qG16QD6wo1fOefxEi9UG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Home area icons

You can also enable the Home Area icons by checking or disable them by unchecking it.

<figure><img src="/files/4r0l3CyPf8TP05V0HVPD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Actions in the home background

The Windows client home area contains a list of menu options displayed as icons with labels. A maximum of 16 options are displayed. To be shown, an option must have an icon.

If at least one icon has a large image, only icons with large images are displayed; otherwise, only icons with small images are displayed.

If more than 16 options are available, special actions are removed first, followed by creation, modification, and deletion actions.

“Thumbnail” tab:

<figure><img src="/files/Xt9hsNimZckQtjZ2RtTe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By clicking on the large image in the home background, the action is executed.

The schedule for multiple resources then opens.

To show/hide: right-click on an icon bar and select the “Home Area icons” option

<figure><img src="/files/manaRr9CG2mLaoNAuZUn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Small and Large Icons**

In the menu options, it is possible to associate two icons: a small one in the menu bar and a large icon that creates a quick and highly visual shortcut in the background of the first screen (or page in the web version).

### **SIMAX Style Customization**

\
It is also possible to configure the Windows client colors by enabling the “Application Style” menu.

<figure><img src="/files/git3lPzy5vreiHRKUDLd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/6nuhuXd6h3msQmx2SKgW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you change the base color, the application background color will then take that color.

<figure><img src="/files/K3lSfQs1nowFnKi1Ko7q" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Current Actions**

\
A button is available in the Max execution toolbar to the left of the field to view the current actions.

Clicking the button displays a menu with the different current actions, the same as the “Current Actions” window, which appears on the side of your screen when enabled.

<figure><img src="/files/SGAg4J00AX9T916t7RQR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This button allows you to hide the “Current Actions” window to save space while still keeping access to the current actions.

### Max

### **Action Execution via Max**

\
In a management software, there are many features that allow you to execute an action directly.

Max is the virtual assistant of SIMAX. It helps you with your tasks. You can ask him questions and he will send you the answer. For faster use, you can enter only keywords or even abbreviations. Click the envelope to send your message, or press the Enter key on the keyboard.

**Example**: create customer, find invoice, search cli (for customer), etc.

Max will display a window with direct access to your action.

**Example:** for “search customer,” Max opens the window allowing you to directly enter the name of the customer you are looking for.

<figure><img src="/files/fPFd9WLdKuobKWJe6WjF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<p align="center"><strong>Input Area</strong></p>

<p align="center"></p>

<figure><img src="/files/lzeccKbobX4viQ4YwD8u" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<p align="center"><strong>Search Result</strong></p>

If your request is ambiguous, Max will send you this message.

<figure><img src="/files/tnVn6dtIDsmJ7OYbDajV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Max Message History**

\
The last 10 messages sent to Max are saved. Place the cursor in the Max field and press the up arrow or down arrow keys on the keyboard to retrieve them.

<figure><img src="/files/Kbq2cXMNl39u2NTFnf81" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If a message has already been sent as-is and is sent again, it is simply moved back to the top of the stack.

### **Messages and parameter assignment in Max phrases**

\
In Max phrases, it is possible to specify the value of a parameter directly by its name.

This works in the Windows Client, in NOUTCLI, in menu option commands, etc.

Previously, parameter recognition was based on the entered value and best-fit assignment; not all cases were possible.

**Syntax:**

< Phrase > (< Parameter name > : < Value >, < Parameter name > : < Value >, ...)

< Phrase >: the phrase associated with the action (current behavior without the “()”). If the phrase contains “(” or “)”, it must be enclosed in quotes.

< Parameter name >: name of the parameter (if the parameter contains “:”, “)”, “(”, or “,”, the name must be enclosed in quotes).\
\
< Value >: value of the parameter (if the value contains “:”, “)”, “(”, or “,”, the value must be enclosed in quotes).

The < Value > is in displayed or stored format, for example for a date: 14/10/2016 or 20161014.

If the < Value > is empty and the parameter is boolean, then the \<All> option is selected.

If the < Value > must preserve leading and trailing spaces, it must be enclosed in quotes.

For List, Search, View display, and Summary table display actions:\
If the < Parameter name > does not match an action parameter and matches a column in the form, view, or summary table, then an automatic filter is added.

**Examples:**

Appointments list (start date: 10/06/2026, end date: 10/06/2026, employee: Supervisor)

<figure><img src="/files/dM5d8hFp4fsIrPKbfOn1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.

<figure><img src="/files/afGMrgr35PokCpVTsuPN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
List Invoice (paid: , Order: CMD00001)

Then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.

### **List of Recent and Frequent Actions**

\
SIMAX lists tasks that have been performed recently or most frequently. This list saves time when performing actions. Like the icon bar, these lists also serve as a shortcut area for commands. To display this list, you must click on the menu bar. Then, in the dropdown list, select “Quick Links.” The list appears below the messaging area, as shown in the following example.

<figure><img src="/files/3iTBAc4xpABAtdNVkoqz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Global Search**

\
Global Search is a search tool, as its name suggests. It allows searching across the entire database.

Click **General > Global Search**. The Global Search interface will open. Enter the item you are looking for in the search bar in the field marked with an \* and click the blue magnifying glass at the end of the field to start the search, or press the “Enter” key on your keyboard. All matching actions or forms will be displayed below. You can filter the results by model.

<figure><img src="/files/IJbkjErhv84ttFDXrbqR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** You can specify the field template on which the search should be performed. The template is optional, but it helps narrow the search within the database.
{% endhint %}

**Note:** The search is performed only on data fields (not on calculated fields).

**Example:** If you are searching for a phone number, you can select a field template.

In the following example, the template is **“Phone Number.”** You will then obtain a list of all items containing the phone number you are searching for.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** User permissions are taken into account. This means that if User A does not have permission to view invoices, the invoice list will not appear in the search results.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://doc.simax.fr/documentation-simax-anglais/using-simax/workspace/main-window.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
